Cover is decorated with a view of a city sqaure in niello, a building with columns being in the center from which rays are engraved for the background. Ends of the box are engraved with various patterns while the back has an all over checquer design in niello. Box opens at back like wallet, the two flags being on springs so that they snap open when released.
