An image of each tsar from Michael, crowned in 1613, to Paul 1, crowned in 1796, appears on the back of each of these spoons, part of a set of twelve made to commemorate the bicentennial of Romanov rule in 1813.

A set of twelve silver gilt and niello large spoons commemorating the Romanov bicentenary. The backs of the fig shaped bowls nielloed with the portraits of the Romanovs: Michael, Alexei, Feodor, Peter the Great, Catherine I, Peter II, Anne, Ivan, Elizabeth, Peter III, Catherine II and Paul. Each twist handle terminating in a numbered finial in the form of an Imperial crown and beaaring the cipher of Alexander I, the interior of the bowls is gilded. Contained in a later fitted case.
