About this object
Two halves of the etui are beautifully decorated with figures in 18th century dress and trees. On the cover there are two cartouches framed with rococo scrolls each containing a picture of a woman: one with wine goblet and fruit. On the top of a cover is a scene with seated woman. The lower part of etui is decorated with two groups of conversing couples. Background is engraved with architectural motifs on the stippled gilded ground. On the bottom is a tiny picture of a reclining sheep.
