In center of lid is a pastoral scene in niello, a young man and a young woman seated on a knoll accompanied by a child offering then a fruit basket and land about them. Background is engraved to represent silk with a border in niello interrupted by engraved rosettes. Around the sides, the upper border matches that on the lid. Below this are four medallions, the ones on the front and back each with a cupid seated on clouds and two on the ends with ruined buildings. Between these are feather like designs engraved with outlines in niello. Bottom is decorated with a similar pastoral scene of a man and woman with sheep underneath a tree.
