About this object

On the sides are three medallions with busts in silver repoussé on a gilt ground; two are of Caesars wearing the laurel wreaths and one is of an Oriental wearing a turban. Between these is an elaborate decoration in silver repoussé of clusters of fruit, leaves and flowers on a punched ground. The rim, the base and the ball feet are gilded. The detachable cover has a floral decoration in silver repoussé. The rest is gilt, including the pinecone handle on the top.
