About this object

Rectangular cigarette case with dark blue cabochon stone as a thumb-piece. Decorated with the sun-rays pattern and a multitude of charms in gold, silver and enamel. On the top these include a medallion with double-headed eagle on a blue enamel ground surrounded with wreath and surmounted with Imperial crown. It opens to reveal a small photograph of Nicholas II and Alexandra Fedorovna, their initials and dates 1894-1914. Other decorative charms include word "mother" and name "Nadya" in Cyrillic and officer's shoulder board in dark blue enamel. The bottom of the case is decorated with the monogram VK in Cyrillic under the five point crown, monogram NT in gold, horseshoe with the head of a horse in gold, and what looks like a personal signature in gold.
