About this object

The base of the chair is chased to look like boards of wood held together with vines in the manner of wooden furniture. The seat lid which lifts has a star pattern cut in the center, surrounded by several rows of rick rack pattern. The back of the chair has an applied raised circle with five heart-shaped designs carved in it. This is surrounded by a rick-rack pattern, a circle with holes. More rick rack designs decorate the edge of the chair back. There is a chased star on the back of the chair. The chair is gilded except for the vine-like fastenings around base.
