About this object

The coconut shell is carved with busts of Peter the Great, Catherine I and Elizabeth I (Elizaveta Petrovna), each in a medallion surrounded by elaborate scrolls. The coconut is set in silver gilt with a rim at the top with an inscription in Cyrillic in two lines. The rim is attached by three silver gilt strips to the base. The stem is baluster shaped. The base is engraved with floral motifs.
