About this object

The service includes a samovar with tray, a teapot, strainer, sugar bowl with tongs and scoop, creamer, hot water pot, lemon fork, cup-emptying bowl and 12 teaspoons. The larger pieces have supports on lion's feet with winged lion's heads at the top. The moldings and borders are decorated with laurel leaves, berries and beading. The smaller pieces have only beaded edges. On the cover of the samovar is a crown in relief and the monogram of the Grand Duchess Alexandra Iosifovna, widow of the Grand Duke Constantine Nikolaevich. Engraved near the monogram are the facsimile signatures of three children of the Grand Duchess, "Olga" (Queen of Greece.) "Vera" (Grand Duchess of Wurttemburg) and "Dimitri" (Grand Duke of Russia.) The faucet of the samovar is marked with XXV on the handle for the twenty-fifth anniversary.
