About this object

The set consists of 24 pieces of each of four different utensils-knives, forks, spoons and small spoons. The shape and design of the set is simple. The knives have rectabgular handles and plain straight steel blades. The forks have four tines and the spoons have pointed bowls. The outline of the handles of the forks and spoons is smooth and unbroken and sweels at the end. On all the pieces thin reeding follows the edges of the monogram, the Cyrillic letters MP topped by a Russian imperial crown on a stiplled ground. The small spoons have in addition a chased stylized leaf ornament on the front and back of both ends of the handles. The initials stand for the Grand Duke Mikhail Pavlovich, son of Paul I and Maria Fedorovna and brother of Nicholas I.
