About this object

The shape of the box is of a coffin with a domed cover. Around the edges of the top, the base and the sides, is an engraved vine scroll of leaves. On the bottom is engraved a monogram. On the front under the thumbpiece is a simulated key hole in the shape of a shield of arms. The interior is gilded.
