About this object

The box is oval in shape and has a hinged lid. The surface is covered with a repousse of flowers and engraved rococo scrolls which are set with semi-precious stones. The sides are divided into sections. On the lid is set a cameo with the head of a Roman emperor carved from amber. He is looking to the left and wears a toga and laurel wreath.
