About this object

The frame has an engraved background with pale blue translucent enamel over chevron engine turning. The oval for the miniature has two borders, one of beading and the other of engraved laurel leaves. The outer edge of the frame is reeded and entwined with a pink gilt ribbon. The miniature profile is of Queen Louise of Denmark (1817-1898), bust-sized and facing to the right. It is based on a photograph by the Danish studio Hansen & Weller (ca. 1892). The back is ivory.
