About this object

The set is made of birch wood, light in color and decorated with strips of silver gilt engraved with acanthus leaves and bands of translucent oyster white enamel over a guilloche ground. The rectangular tray has the acanthus strips as border and an oblong tray for pens. At the back of the tray are three boxes with covers, one large for ink and two small (one for a stamp moistener). These has frames of acanthus and enamel on the top and frames of acanthus only on the sides. At the top is a white enamel apple for handles in lifting the covers. The interiors are silver gilt. The stamp moistener has a brush with silver handle and an apple at the end enameled white.
