About this object

On the front are three medallions: one with the busts of the Grand Duke Alexander Nikolaevich (future Emperor Alexander II) and his wife, Marie Alexandrovna, facing each other. At the left a medallion with Emperor Nicholas I and at the right, his wife Empress Aleksandra Feodorovna. Each medallion has the Imperial crown above and the Imperial eagle below and frames of laurel leaves, etc. The handle has an acanthus scroll. The foot has floral motifs en repoussé. Ornamental medallions seem to be cast separetely and applyed to the plain surface of the cup.
