About this object

The saltcellar is urn-shaped and has swirling acanthus leaves about the bowl. In the upper part of the bowl are clusters of trophies on either side and in addition on one side a cuirass and on the other a blank shield with the Imperial crown above. The lip has acanthus leaves. The octagonal base has four ball feet. The baluster has acanthus leaves. The cover is plain except for acanthus leaves in the center. Above this is the handle in the shape of the Russian Imperial eagle.
