About this object

In center of cover is a portrait of Alexander II facing to the right and dressed in his regimental uniform with many badges and stars. The miniature, signed C.X., has a gold inner frame and an outer one set with diamonds. Rest of cover is decorated with scrolls, some engraved and some in royal blue enamel and roses and leaves in carved in four colors of gold in high relief and two rosettes of diamonds. Sides and underside are covered with engraved scrolls. Thumb pieces is carved in four color gold with touches of royal blue enamel.
