About this object

The round patch box is composed of three pieces of bloodstone. The bottom is round with a beveled edge. The sides bulge outward on the lower part and curve inward on the upper. These two pieces are mounted in plain gold bands. The bloodstone on the cover curves away at the sides and is framed in gold with rococo scrolls chased in openwork.
