An etui, or bodkin holder, is a decorative container used to hold bodkins (hairpins), toothpicks, or other small tools. This etui consists of two pieces of bloodstone mounted in gold. There are two gold collars forming the hinge, each chased with rococo scrolls. The hinge is released by pressing a rose diamond.

This étui (bodkin holder) consists of two pieces of bloodstone mounted in gold. The body tapers towards the bottom. The back is flat while the two sides and front bulge outwards. The four faces curve together to a point at the top. There are two gold collars forming the hinge, each chased with rococo scrolls. The hinge is released by pressing a rose diamond. In the center of the lower portion is a small rosette in gold. Around the lower tip is another gold collar engraved in gold with scrolls and flowers. The interior compartment is missing.
