About this object

The shape of the box is rectangular with the corners cut off. This creates ten panels of bloodstone enclosed in a gold cage. The top and sides of the cover are bordered by intertwined vines, one of bellflowers, the other of leaves in chased red and green gold in relief on a stippled ground. The bottom is edged by a wavy ribbon in gold relief, the oblique corners are flanked by vertical flutings.
