About this object
An emerald bust that is carved as a portrait of a Roman empress. She wears a toga and her hair is thickly curled on top of her head. It is a close replica of the sculpture "Portrait of a Lady" in Capitoline Museum (Rome, A.D.90). She is mounted in gold and rests on an agate base with turning at the top and bottom.
