About this object

Agate box is shaped, curving inwards in the middle and has a plain gold hinge and thumbpiece. On cover is set a miniature in a circlet of miner's diamonds. Miniature is of Alexander II facing right. It is after a portrait by Austrian painter Heinrich von Angeli (1840–1925). Alexander II wears his regimental uniform with his cipher on the epaulettes. He has blue sash of the imperial order of St. Andrew, the badges of three imperial orders and several medals on his tunic near the collar and several medals on his tunic on his right breast. Also he has a regimental badge with XXX in a circle.
