About this object

Rhodonite box is rectangular, with corners cut off to make it octagonal. Gold mounting is undecorated. On lid is a relief carved in gold of the double headed eagle with the imperial crown and a rose cut diamond set in a shield. About the eagle is a circlet of small diamonds.
