As the days grow shorter, dream of a beautiful spring by planting a container of layered bulbs!

Layers of bulbs will provide maximum bloom in a small space, and should bloom for several weeks in the spring. These small containers are perfect for urban and suburban gardeners who may not have room for large bulb displays.

All materials will be provided. Latex gloves are available or you may bring your favorite gardening gloves. This container of layered bulbs will need to be thoroughly watered, and covered with a screen or hardware cloth weighted with stone or brick to keep your bulbs safe from squirrels. Bulbs need 8-12 weeks of cold to bloom, so keep your pot outdoors in a protected area (near a corner, window well or in an unheated garage) throughout the fall and winter.

Led by Bill Johnson, Hillwood’s horticulturist. This program is limited to 12 people. Payment is required in advance due to materials fees, and is non-refundable.
