Every January, Hillwood closes its doors for a few weeks so that the staff can make the Mansion shine. This thorough cleaning of the Collections allows Hillwood to maintain the standards expected by our visitors. Thank you for your patience and we hope to see you at La Chandeleur on February 2 and at our next exhibition, Pagaent of Tsars: The Romanov Coronations Albums beginning February 16.

Scaffolding in the Entry Hall is erected to allow the Collections staff to check and clean lighting fixtures.

The window area that hosts live plants throughout the year is thoroughly cleaned.

Sometimes objects are moved to different locations to facilitate easier cleaning. This commode normally seen in the Entry Hall is currently housed in the Russian Porcelain Room.

Our Collections staff has removed portraits from the wall Russian royalty for use in our upcoming exhibition, “Pageant of the Tsars: The Romanov Coronation Albums.”
