The French parterre was designed and built as an outdoor extension of the French
drawing room in the west wing of the mansion. Reminiscent of the formal
garden design that was fashionable in eighteenth-century France, the
garden features ornate fountains and waterworks dividing beds of clipped
boxwood and accented by period statuary.
