Adult Audiences Manager
Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, an art collector’s estate museum located in Washington, DC, seeks an experienced, imaginative, and motivated museum education professional. This manager will work with staff throughout the museum, leaders in the community, and colleagues at other institutions to enhance current programs and create new and creative learning opportunities that support the institution’s interpretive messages and methodologies that cultivate existing and targeted adult audiences as mandated by the museum’s strategic plan. Requires an advanced degree in museum education or a related field; 8 or more years of leadership experience conceptualizing, developing, implementing, and evaluating learning experiences preferably in a museum setting. Additional requirements include strong management, communication, organizational, and planning skills; the ability to see and present work in the context of the theories and practice of museum learning; and the ability to work effectively as a team member and leader.

Curator of Russian and Eastern European Art
Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, which holds the largest collection of imperial Russian art in the United States, is seeking a full-time salaried Curator of Russian and Eastern European Art. Under the direction of the Director of Collections/Chief Curator, the Curator conducts scholarly and applied research on assigned areas; lectures and publishes on a regular basis; organizes special exhibitions; recommends acquisitions; updates records in collections management database; and prepares information for labels, brochures, and web site. Masters degree (doctorate preferred) in art history or Russian studies with experience in and knowledge of Russian decorative and fine arts; strong Russian language skills; ability to read in French and German; and record of publications preferred. Thorough knowledge of current museum standards and practices with 2 to 5 years museum or teaching experience strongly preferred. Must be highly organized, able to manage multiple projects, possess strong computer skills, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
