Designing the Garden: The Drawings of Shogo Myaida
March 26–May 25, 2nd floor of Visitor Center

Original documents from Hillwood’s archives highlight Mr. Myaida’s design for the Japanese-style Garden and Mrs. Post’s role as the garden’s owner.

The Japanese-style Garden
Available beginning April 1

This self-guided tour takes visitors through the newly restored Japanese-style Garden highlighting the features that bring Japanese and American garden traditions together in Mrs. Post’s delightful 1960s garden.

Gardens of the World: Japanese Gardens
Visitor Center Theater at 10:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., daily in April
Hosted by Audrey Hepburn and narrated by Michael York, this 30-minute documentary film explores the beauty and history of some of the most famous gardens in Japan.

Japanese-style Garden Weekend Celebration
Friday and Saturday, April 26–27, 11:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
A daylong event to celebrate the reopening of Mrs. Post’s Japanese-style Garden.  Events include traditional Japanese cultural ceremonies, a hands-on workshop, tours of the garden, and lectures by Dr. Kendall H. Brown, Assistant Professor of Asian Art History, California State University, Long Beach and author of Japanese-style Gardens of the Pacific West Coast, and Denis Gray, Horticultural Consultant, Hillwood Japanese-style Garden Restoration Project.

All ages welcome; Children over six permitted inside the main house.
