About this object

A young lady is standing three-quarters length with her head turned to the left. She is in a garden with a rock to the left and a column at the right, which has a vine growing up its side. Her dress is dark blue or black satin with short puffed sleeves and rests off her shoulders. Over her left shoulder and right arm, she wears a yellow shawl with designs in colors at the ends. Her left hand holds one end of the shawl, and the right hand rests at her side. She wears a single strand of pearls with a ruby in the center, a pearl brooch with pendant, which is attached to the center of her dress, and two bracelets, which match the other jewelry. Her hair is dressed in curls with a large comb placed to the right. The background shows a sky with a few clouds.
