About this object
The box is rectangular and the bloodstone surface is cut allover to simulate basketweave. Applied to the cover is an oval medallion in painted enamel with a scene with a prophet or gospel (Moses?) standing at the left with a seated shepherd at the right. The clasp is an applied spray of flowers and leaves in diamonds. The hinge is gold.
